The Year of the Blue Horse

Hello! We just came off of a four day weekend due to the Lunar New Year. In case you did not know, it is the year of the Blue Horse, and I wish you all health, happiness, and prosperity in 2014! At school, our students decorated horses as an art project, and they each wrote their New Years Resolution.  Somehow, I lost the "blue" part in translation so all of my classes ended up with rainbow horses.....woops! But they were still really pretty! And I am sure all of the Korean teachers got a good chuckle thinking "silly American".  I also received this awesome Korean Wine tasting set from the directors at my school as a holiday gift! I am really excited to try them one night this week; I've identified one as a cherry wine, one as ginger, and the other two will be a surprise because there are no pictures on their labels. I love a good wine flight!

With our days off from work. ( due to our four day weekend!), myself and a few of the other wives went on a fantastic coffee/shopping date! There is a coffee shop near by that has the most amazing coffee!!! Pure happiness in a cup - and beautiful too.  Ohhhh the simple things :)

Also this week, I attempted to create one of my favorite snacks/ side dishes: uncle Chris's bean salad! It was not exactly the same, but still really good! Makes me wish we were having a summer BBQ, but instead it is bitterly cold and windy outside!

Since I actually have time to cook here, I am trying to improve my skills... In order to do so, I have found one blog in particular that has a fantastic assortment of recipes. For all of my friends who like to cook, you need to check it out! The website is thegourmandmom.com . So far we have tried the buffalo chicken potato skins - amazing and great for parties!.... And the Guinness braised beef - also really good.  I have about 20 more recipes in a holding pattern that I want to try! If you try any, let me know your favorites so I can be sure to check it out!

For our AF friends, Oscar says hi. Push it up!
